چکیده
Given the considerable importance of English language as a common method global communication, supporting and engaging learning environments for studying second are essential. In this study, we propose an interactive agent that considers differences in learners’ skill levels to help motivate learners support independent study. The proposed is AI chatbot can vary complexity its natural interactions skills improve engage unstructured conversations with users. We first collected dataset among children then acquired data on utterances words sentences using interface evaluation. Based these datasets, generated set personalized conversational agents by algorithms evaluate speakers’ pronunciation sentences. Embodied Conversational Agent to Motivate Learners towards Communication in English
Willingness to communicate (WTC) in a second language (L2) is believed to have a direct and sustained influence on learners’ actual usage frequency of the targeted language. To help overcome the lack of suitable environments to increase L2 learners’ WTC, our approach is to implement a WTC model based conversational agent. In this paper, we focus on the dialogue management aspects of our approac...
متن کاملDesigning a Pattern Language for Creative Learners
In this paper we propose a pattern language for learners who want to learn better without killing their creativity. In order to tell a ‘knack’ about the way of learning we apply the method of pattern language, which was originally proposed in architectural design and became famous in software design. Our proposed pattern language for creative learners, which we name “Learning Patterns”, consist...
متن کاملDesigning a Tangible Learning Environment with a Teachable Agent
To date, the majority of learning technologies only afford virtual interactions on desktops or tablets, despite evidence that students learn through physical manipulation of their environment. We implemented a tangible system that allows students to solve coordinate geometry problems by interacting in a physical space with digitally augmented devices, using a teachable agent framing. We describ...
متن کاملLooking Beyond English: Linguistic Inquiry for English Language Learners
The pilot project took place at a public high school in Greater Boston where Ginsberg was then an ESL teacher. Ginsberg initiated this project because he was seeking to supplement the curriculum of his high-intermediate ESL class with critical inquiry activities. He approached Honda and O’Neil for linguistic inquiry materials that he could incorporate into his classes. Instead, using existing m...
متن کاملLanguage Muse: Automated Linguistic Activity Generation for English Language Learners
Current education standards in the U.S. require school students to read and understand complex texts from different subject areas (e.g., social studies). However, such texts usually contain figurative language, complex phrases and sentences, as well as unfamiliar discourse relations. This may present an obstacle to students whose native language is not English — a growing sub-population in the ...
